Inspired by the timeless craft of vintage porcelain, The Porcelain Edition draws a parallel between porcelain and ballet – two art forms of a delicate harmony between beauty and discipline. Both arts share the pursuit of perfection: grace shaped by rigor, and elegance refined through devotion.
Guided by JAC’s core values – Craftsmanship, Beauty, Tradition, and Creativity -, the Porcelain Ballet-wear pays tribute to these enduring ideals. The iconic cobalt blue motifs of fine porcelain are translated into our leotards through subtle prints and intricate detailing, merging artistry with motion.
KINTSUGI
Rooted in the philosophy of appreciating the imperfections, Kintsugi reflects the beauty found in what is broken, mended, and transformed. The word itself combines kin (gold) and tsugi (to join), describing the craft of repairing ceramics with natural lacquer and finishing the seams in gold or silver powder.
In this interpretation, JAC unites the refined artistry of European porcelain with the philosophy of Kintsugi. Each porcelain fragment motif is thoughtfully body-placed to create a sculpted composition across the silhouette. Gold-foil stitches trace along these collaged motifs, forming patterns that contour the body – a visual metaphor for strength through imperfection.
PORCELAIN SKIN
Porcelain Skin explores the seamless connection between porcelain and the human form. Through translucent stretch mesh and opaque layers, cobalt blue ornaments flow across the surface, blurring the boundary between fabric and skin.
This design captures the quiet beauty of porcelain, delicate yet enduring. As the prints move with the body, they reveal a sense of unity between dancer and craft, echoing the harmony of fragility and strength. The pieces embody elegance that feels both timeless and alive in motion.
PORCELAIN BLOOM
Porcelain Bloom brings the subtle elegance of fine tea-ware porcelain into motion. Hand-drawn floral motifs are body-placed to evoke the harmonious composition of vintage design. Set on a soft Edelweiss shade, the patterns flow gently across the body, recalling a porcelain garden in bloom.
The PORCELAIN Edition was captured through the lens of Lucija Rosc, a visual artist based in Slovenia whose work bridges the poetic and the contemporary. Together, we explored how the delicacy and timeless beauty of porcelain could be reimagined through a language of light, texture, and composition, transforming heritage craftsmanship into modern expression.
This collaboration stands as both a celebration of artistry and a continuation of our pursuit to connect tradition with creativity in every form we create.
